I just graduated from college in December and I am launching my career in cybersecurity applying my hands-on IT support, network infrastructure, and problem-solving experience to my SOC Analyst role at the Virginia Department of Transportation.
From troubleshooting complex issues at CoStar Group to managing networks with TEKsystems, I’m building the technical foundation and adaptability needed to secure systems and protect data.
With work roles spanning across technology, finance, customer service and analytics, I bring solid skills and human insight to the process. In my new role at the Virginia Department of Transportation, I am an immediate contributor on a skilled, forward-thinking cybersecurity team who work hard to provide cyber-related solutions.
The Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate prepared me for cybersecurity roles through eight Google-developed courses with assessments. I gained skills in Python, Linux, SQL, SIEM tools, and IDS, and can identify, assess, and mitigate common risks, threats, and vulnerabilities. Completed June 2024.
The eJPT Certification is a beginner-friendly course that taught me how to think and work like a penetration tester in a safe, legal way.
It gave me ethical, practical experience through hands on real-world style scenarios that help me identify and assess security threats and weaknesses. Completed October 2024.
The CompTIA Security+ ce Certification trained me on essential knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, including risk management, threat detection, and incident response. This course ensures that I will meet industry standards for securing networks, systems, and data in security environments. Completed June 2025.
The Blue Team Level 1 (BTL1) Certification from Security Blue Team is a hands-on credential that covers core skills needed for defensive cybersecurity roles. It focuses on threat hunting, digital forensics, SIEM analysis, and incident response, preparing users for real-world operations. Completion October 2025.
The following list are more than bullet points—they are soft skills that play a vital role in my success and will help me reach early career goals. They reflect how I currently work, solve problems, and connect with others in a professional setting.
I am driven to learn, grow, and challenge myself. I've dedicated time to earning industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications in record time and sharpening skills like penetration testing.
I view cybersecurity as more than a career—it's an opportunity to protect people, systems, and data in our increasingly connected world, ensuring digital safety for everyone.
My goal is to bring my dedication, curiosity, and hands-on skills to a forward-thinking team where I can continue learning and contributing to challenging, real-world cybersecurity solutions.
My travel experiences helped shape my view of the world and the importance of tech. From exploring the Amazon rainforest in Manaus to experiencing the historical wonders of Xi'an, each destination contributed to my understanding of cultures and perspectives. Travel across continents has equipped me with an ability to connect with people from various backgrounds and adapt to work environments. The problem-solving skills, cultural awareness, and understanding of tech trends gained from these experiences help me make valuable contributions at work.

"Braxton has been with us for two months, and during this brief time he has demonstrated eagerness to learn and be present. He is prompt and seeks additional assignments, which is something we like to see in our interns. He also collaborates and seems to be respected by his peers."
